All glories to
Srila Prabhupada!

August 19, 2005–

Hare Krsna. The day on which we celebrate the appearance of Balarama is also the day that Krsna chastised the Kaliya serpent. On this day, so many hundreds of years ago, Krsna went to the Yamuna to herd the cows without His elder brother, who had stayed at home to observe ceremonies connected to His birthday.

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and the awesome Lord Narasimhadeva

I wanted to go to a certain Narasimha temple here in Jodhpur with some friends, but the rickshaw driver insisted that Jodhpur had no Narasimha temple. Little did he know that I had already been to two Narasimha temples here. The problem was that I didn't remember the directions to the one I wanted. So the rickshaw man and my friends started arguing, and finally the driver gave in.

Vrinda Kunda
Phase II Started

From Deena Bandhu dasa
Posted July 2, 2004

The sound of the 14-inch brass bell peals across the waters of Vrinda Kunda and then beyond the borders across fields parched by the relentless Indian summer sun. The Vrinda Kunda area is set like an emerald among these empty fields. Three irridescent green English flycatchers perform their acrobatics just above the cool green waters. Two kokilas, madly in love, warble on the fifth note as they flit from tree to tree. The kingfisher reveals himself like a flash of bright blue lightning as he dives from the edge of the ghat to the water.

Fishes and Swamis:

From Bhaktisiddhanta Swami
Posted May 8, 2004

Auspicious confirmations highlighted Sri Sri Radha-Madhava's Boat Festival the other night in Mayapur, as Lord Matysa sent two finned representatives to join the festivities.

By seeing Their Lordships glistening with sparkling blue chandan [sandalwood], almost hidden behind 20 garlands of fruit and flowers, surrounded by 40 varieties of bhoga offerings, and cooled by the waving of yak-tail and peacock fans, one could get a glimpse on the physical plane of what Krsna's aprakata pastimes may be like.

History Made
at Kumbha Mela

From Deena Bandhu Dasa
Posted April 27, 2004

On 20th April, history was made at the Ujjain Kumbha Mela when the All India Sadhu Samaj officially accepted Lokanatha Swami as a mahant representing ISKCON. This happened only after a long battle over several days, where Sarvabhauma had to answer many, many objections and prove ISKCON is a bonafide Vaisnava sampradaya. It was a glorious fight, but on the day of the Sahi Snana, or Royal Bath, ISKCON had its own place in the procession, and the devotees were dancing like firebrands in what became a victory march to the Rama Ghat.

Staying Alive
Please Do Not Do This
From Manjari devi dasi
Posted April 26, 2004

Dawn Gibbs arrived at Delhi International Airport and got a pre-paid taxi to take her to the Brahmakumari ashrama there. She never made it. The taxi driver murdered her in an attempt to rob her. He then paid someone Rs.10 to clean the car of the blood, returned to the pre-paid taxi stand, and then returned home to sleep, where the police caught him.

India, despite the superficial coverings of what is considered civilization, remains a very dangerous and cruel place as Dawn Gibbs found out. The dangers for a Westerner traveling alone in India cannot be underestimated, especially for women.

Lord Narasimhadeva
in Rajkot

From Kavicandra Swami
Posted January 17, 2004

After the opening if ISKCON's Rukmini Dwarakadisa Temple in Dwaraka, the devotees traveled to the city of Rajkot for the installation of Lord Narasimhadeva.

Although there were many life members in Rajkot, an ISKCON temple had not manifested. Then His Holiness Mahavishnu Goswami went there and was very well received. The government has given eight acres of land just outside of the city on the main highway and in less than a year the devotees constructed a temple and guesthouse and established the worship of Sri Sri Radha Nilamadhava. Of course plans are for a very large project and the local members are very enthusiastic.

New Temple in Dwaraka

In December 2003, ISKCON opened a beautiful Rukmini-Dwarakadish Mandir.

Dwaraka is well known as the place where Lord Krsna stayed for many years until His departure. In Lord Krsna's time it was a huge, opulent city with 900,000 palaces. Now it is a small village, but Lord Dwarakadish is still the center of attention. His beautiful temple was first built by Visvakarma under the direction of the Lord's great grandson.
