Kusakratha Bedridden

From Krsna Kumari devi dasi (Vrndavana)

Posted Sep 18, 2005

September 12, 2005–

Kusakratha prabhu called the "Goloka Airlines" hospice staff here at terminal 108, MVT (Mayapur-Vrndavana Trust Guesthouse) in Vrindavan last month. He has finally collapsed and is finally accepting seva from the devotees here. He is bedridden and only skin and bones.

Because he took no chemotherapy he is actually doing pretty well—mentally sharp as a tack and still doing some poetry.

All Glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga!

September 8, 2005, Krishna Era 5233

Dear Kusakratha Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I am very sorry to hear that you are facing more complications with regard to your physical body. You are using this devastating illness to show the world how to be a surrendered soul of Sri Sri Krsna-Balarama.

It was wonderful to see you last March in Vrndavana, blissfully performing your daily duties, visiting Krsna-Balarama Mandira, taking kichari prasadam in association with the devotees, etc.

Please Help Goura
Prema Devi Dasi

From Hridayananda das Goswami

Posted Aug 19, 2005

My dear devotees,

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

By now you must have heard the shocking news of a terrible accident involving a young devotee, the daughter of Srimati Mahadevi, a faithful disciple of Srila Prabhupada. Mahadevi, Goura Prema, and her older sister, Caitanya, all went to India where Goura, a very accomplished dancer, was going to study classical Indian dance. On the streets of New Delhi, in the heroic act of saving her sister's life from an onrushing car, she was herself run over and her legs were severely injured.

Child-Protection's Car
and Computers Stolen

From Urmila Devi Dasi

Posted July 18, 2005

Please accept my obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Tamohara Prabhu, who runs the International Child Protection Office, recently had his camper stolen (while he and his wife were sleeping in it). Their story is included. They lost all their most important personal possessions including their computers, all their data, and all their software.

Clearly, this loss has made their service of protecting Krishna's children far more difficult.

Thanks for Your Help

From Praghosa Das

Posted June 2, 2005

Dear Devotees,

I want to take this opportunity on behalf of Srila Prabhupada to thank all of you who personally rendered some assistance to me this past year in my efforts to overcome a bout with a very serious illness.

His Holiness Radhanath Swami and the wonderful devotees in our Chowpatty Temple serving Sri Sri Radha-Gopinatha kindly gave me full facility to mend while there in the wonderful devotional environment created by all of them. In addition, many devotees sent donations, large and small, to help me offset the costs involved in treating my condition.

In Praise of Momji

From Padmapani das

Posted May 9, 2005

Rita McNaughton, also known as Momji, is a devotee of Krsna and a faithful follower of Srila Prabhupada. She also happens to be my mother. At present, she is very ill, and therefore I've decided to write a few words in honor of a great soul.

Momji was born in 1922 in rural Manitoba, Canada, on a homesteader farm. She came from a large family of eight brothers and sisters. They had no electricity, running water, or telephone.

Praghosa Prabhu: Back on the Street

From Udayananda Dasa

Posted Mar. 20, 2005

Dear devotees of Jagat Guru A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada,

This is Udayananda dasa here.

It has been almost a year since I wrote my appeal to all of you to help in raising funds to pay for the medical treatment for my dear friend Praghosa dasa. I am truly sorry and apologize to everyone for being unable to give regular updates on Praghosa Prabhu's progress over the nine months that he stayed at Sri Sri Radha Gopinatha Mandir in Chowpatty.

In addition to fundraising, responding to almost every letter that was sent, buying herbs, vitamins, and medicines and sending them to Praghosa and wiring the funds to India, I went through a personal crisis that completely changed my life. With only my wife Rasesvari devi dasi to help me in this regard, there just has not been any time to regularly address the world community of devotees.

We plan to do this in ten days or two weeks maximum.

Helping Prithu Prabhu
From Parvati devi dasi

Dear Prabhus and Maharajas,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

There are many devotees who experience this kind of depression. This is due to all kinds of reasons, including false ceilings we tend to set up for ourselves. Recently we had an experience with a very dedicated devotee who had an accident, didn't chant his rounds for a couple days while hospitalized and in dire straits, and mentally flagellated himself for the better part of the year progressively into a catatonic depression.

Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

My father, who is quite old and weak, has been doing badly with his health for quite a long time. Finally he was diagnosed with a large, 10-year-old stone in his gallbladder. Because the stone is so large, the only option left is to remove the whole gallbladder. The operation will be done soon.

Haribol!

I am looking for a devotee named Draupadi devi dasi. She lives in the North Carolina area and is an amazing artist. We met in Dallas in the early '80s and lost touch, but reconnected at TKG's memorial service. I lost her phone number, and the email I have for her is no longer valid. She is like a big sister to me and I miss her very much. If anyone knows her please tell her that her little sister Krishna is desperately trying to get in touch with her.

I can be reached at krishnaharrison@yahoo.com.

Thank you.

Dear devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The following appeal is one of the most difficult and painful things I have had to do in my entire life. Our dear Godbrother and friend Praghosa dasa has contracted a life-threatening case of cancer. The doctors in the Chowpatty Temple have discovered a tumor 18 inches long and 10 inches wide in his abdominal area. The attached letters from Radhanatha Swami and from one of the doctors will give a further explanation of his condition.

In Vrindavan Mahimamrita it says, "One who helps one who resides in Vrindavan makes millions of times more advancement than one who lives there, as he helps himself and the other person."

I have been living in Vrindavan for eight years by the mercy of my Gurudeva, Srila Virabahu Maharaj. For five years it was my good fortune to do gurukula seva, and now I manage the womens ministry at Krsna Balaram Mandir. I also had the good fortune to reside in New Dwarka, Los Angeles, for ten years, serving Rukmini Dwarkadisha as assistant pujari and ashram leader.

Dr. Ravi Kant, an orthopedic surgeon who has performed over 1,000 successful operations, inserted a metal plate in his hip to join the broken bones. Bhubaneshwar was listening to tapes of Srila Prabhupada singing throughout the operation (local anesthetic was used) and even induced the doctor to chant Hare Krishna as he was performing the operation.
