Kusakratha Prabhu: The Astrological Reading

From an e-mail from Syamasundar Dasa
to Hari-Sauri Dasa

Posted Oct 8, 2005

The most prominent feature is that Guru and Buddha were in close conjunction, very close to the lagna point (same degree as the lagna) in the 9th house; thus Guru was closely aspecting the lagna. This is very good.

What comes to mind is that if he takes birth again, it will be as a great scholar of bhakti, much more so than he was in this life.

The Departure of
Ananta Rupini Devi Dasi

From Gaurangi dasi

Posted June 2, 2005

This article is based on the reports of many devotees, whose names could not all be mentioned.

Last pilgrimage to Jagannath Puri

Ananta Rupini dasi, a French disciple of Srila Prabhupada, recently left her body in India. She was the wife of Nitai Gaurasundara das, who was formerly the president of the Paris temple. She had told Visesa dasi that she didn't want to leave her body in the West, but in a holy place. Lord Caitanya fulfilled her desire in a wonderful way, since she breathed her last in Bhubaneswar, near Jagannath Puri, the holy city in which the Lord spent the last eighteen years of His life tasting the highest ecstasy of Srimati Radharani's love in separation from Lord Krishna.

What really happened

Mula and N.M.

From Manjari Dasi

Posted Apr. 21, 2005

[Note: I am certainly not a follower of Narayana Maharaja, but I do not like to see lies being spread about him or anyone else. I hope the following will put an end to a rumor that, to my regret, also appeared on dipika.org—Umapati Swami]

Respected Vaishnavas,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

... It seems proper, at this time, to lay to rest an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding Mulaprakriti's relationship with Srila Narayana Maharaja. Therefore I am releasing the following letters, written last summer and fall, which clarify the situation. The first is from Mula's husband, Gopavrindapal prabhu, to me, and the second is a retraction from the person who began the rumor. I have taken the liberty of deleting that person's name.

Bhava Bhuti Das left his body on Friday Sept 17, 2004, in the evening. He joined the movement in 1971, and he was a disciple of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. He was 52 years old.

He had suffered since the 1980s from Lou Gehrig's disease [amyotrophic lateral sclerosis] and for over 15 years was on a ventilator, remaining with his wife and family. His wife, Mongala Gopi Devi Dasi, who is the sister of my wife, Ananda Gopi Devi Dasi, remained with him throughout this ordeal, taking care of him while maintaining a job and bringing up their two children, Rukmini and Gokulesha.

Mula Prakriti Devi Dasi Leaves Body

Respected Vaisnavas,

On July 12, 2004, at 8:26 a.m., at the MVT in Vrindavana, our dear Godsister and friend, Mula Prakriti, gloriously departed from this world. Last September, during a stay in Vrindavana, Mula was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After a courageous battle with the disease, she returned to this spiritual home Srila Prabhupada has given us all in order to leave her body.

Those of you who know Mula Prakriti will remember the intensity with which she lived her life. She had a burning desire to serve Srila Prabhupada by preaching. She joined ISKCON in Los Angeles in 1973, and in the early years, shot to the top of the book distribution charts, distributing literally hundreds of thousands of books all over the United States and Japan and collecting millions of dollars for Srila Prabhupada’s projects.

I would like to thank you, dipika.org, for posting the memorial of Jake Hawley. We had the most amazing experience at his cremation ceremony. I would like to share it with the Vaisnavas in order to increase their faith in Lord Nityananda.

The ceremony was held at a small crematorium in Portland, Oregon. In attendance were Ksetrajna Prabhu, Tony, Dayal, Mathuralila devi dasi, Bonnie Silva (my mother), and I. The others performed kirtan while I prepared my brother's body with tilaka, a namchadar, tulasi beads, tulasi leaves, tulasi branches, dust from the holiest places in the universe, and water from the Ganges and 1008 holy tirthas. We chanted the holy names of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, Lord Hari, Lord Nrisimha, Lord Nityananda, and others while carrying his body to the cremation unit.

Dear Kritakarma Prabhu,

Please accept my most fallen obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to your good self and your devotional service. Please forgive me for the many offenses I have committed against you.

I had heard the news of your passing two days ago and was hoping it was just a rumor. But today I have seen the articles on the internet confirming that you have left us and returned to Krishna.

I am sorry that I did not spend more time communicating with you over the last few months. You were my very close friend, but somehow our distances and different services kept us from communicating with each other frequently. But I would always talk about you here to all the devotees, telling how nice a devotee you are.

Please Pray for Jacob
From Joshua Hawley

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glory to Sri Guru and Gauranga!

I write today with a humble request: that any one of you Vaisnavas that may read this letter— I would humbly ask that you pray to Krishna on behalf of the newly departed soul of my younger and only brother, Jacob Frederick Hawley. He met with an untimely death at the age of 23. Born October 31, 1980, died April 14, 2004.

I loved my brother very much, and unfortunately he never got the opportunity to associate with devotees. So I just ask that he may be remembered by the devotees so that Krishna may bless his soul to take birth as a Vaisnava.

Thank you very much. Begging your mercy eternally as servant of the servant of the servant, and begging to remain yours,

Sincerely,

The Disappearance of Pisima

Jayapataka Maharaja:

"...Victorious moment, yet at the same time it is a matter of separation of a Vaisnava. So, for example, I just have a few things to say. You will find more details on how attached Pisima was, always assisting Srila Prabhupada in her childhood, from Satsvarupa dasa Goswami's biography. I just remember that Srila Prabhupada said that she always used to follow him around when they were children.

Mother Sucirani:
An Exemplary Life

From Kavicandra Swami

We had a report of the auspicious passing of Mother Sucirani from this world. She was a very humble Vaishnavi. I did not spend much time with her, but I did have the good fortune to witness her exemplary life. She was a quite successful businessperson, and she used everything for the service of the Lord, sharing whatever she had with other devotees.

The fact that HG Aindra came to her house to chant indicates Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's special favor on her.

Dear Banke Bihari and Ananda Tirtha Prabhus,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

You have done a wonderful service, facilitating Sucirani's departure in this way. I'm sure you will receive her continued eternal blessings, and those of her Lord, Sri Krishna.

I am sorry for your loss, and wish you a soft, caring, and swift recovery process. Please do not ignore the pain, as it is valid and must be attended.

The following verses were sent to me by HH Kesava Bharati Maharaja after the passing away of my dear spiritual master, HH Tamal Krishna Goswami. They helped me immensely, and I hope they will also help you. It is about the pain of separation. Please take a moment to read. It is Krishna Himself speaking to Narada Muni. It is only a few verses, but they turned my world around when he left his body.

May Krishna bless you.

Bhakta Sanjaya
Leaves Body

Posted January 15, 2004

One of Mayapur's sankirtan devotees left his body at 4:00 AM on 13th January 2004. Bhakta Sanjay was suffering from blood cancer. Three days ago he was feeling all right and had gone for book distribution in Kolkata, when all of a sudden he fell sick. He was admitted to the Sishu Mangal Hospital in Kolkata, where doctors found that he was suffering from blood cancer.

During the days he spent in the hospital, Bhakta Sanjaya was calm and quiet. Blood cancer is a disease that often gives much pain, but Bhakta Sanjaya did not suffer very much. Sankirtan devotees were with him all the time. Even though hospitals here do not usually allow visitors outside visiting hours, in this case the hospital authorities allowed our devotees to be with him.

Vrindavan, January 5, 2004–

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

This is just a short note to inform you that HG Sucirani Dasi, of Perth, Australia, left her body a few hours ago, on the evening of January 5. She had been diagnosed with cancer exactly one year ago, and although it was kept in check for the first six months or so, thereafter her condition deteriorated rapidly.

Her passing away, however, was most auspicious. Following in the footsteps of Srila Prabhupada and so many of our Vaisnava acaryas, she was able to quit her material body in Krishna's own land of Vrindavan, with minimal pain and in the presence of devotees loudly chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.

Amogha Virya: Amazingly Austere, Very Sweet

Amogha Virya Prabhu was in Detroit ISKCON for a number of years in the early 80s. He was on the sankirtan party at that time, and I must have spent close to a year traveling with him around America.

He had a very sweet disposition and was so eager to give people some chance to serve Krishna by taking a book, giving a donation, and tasting a little prasadam.

He had an incredible taste for hearing the Krishna Book. He would often read when he was taking prasadam, and he would carry the book around with him everywhere he went. He even read Krishna Book while walking around the parking lots on sankirtan.
