Posted June 4, 2004 An opportunity to complete the collection of devotional books for Krishna’s children. Every book makes a difference. Visitors gasp with delight when visiting our library. Four thousand books is quite a lot for a small school. When a kind donor recently gave us a large box of books by ISKCON authors, we realized that the children of our school now have almost all existing books from Srila Prabhupada and his followers. With that dream within our grasp, a student’s mother made a list of all the books we are still missing. The total price, as listed in the Krishna Culture catalog, is about $600. This does not include works published by the BBT, Archives, or Torchlight, all of whom kindly donate to our library. The teachers, the students, and the students' families remember them with gratitude every day. Posted June 4, 2004 A chance to make a big difference to our children. How do butterflies find their way when they migrate? Why do plants turn toward the sun? How satisfying it is to assist these children in exploring Krishna’s greatness through nature! And now you have the opportunity to be a part of this thrill of discovery. Two kind donors have already given us almost $1000 of the $5000 needed to purchase the equipment, kits, and videos to complete our nature study program for grades 1 through 8 (ages 5 through 13— our school goes up to age 18). With some help from each of you reading this, we will soon have a first-class facility to educate these devotees.
Bhaktivedanta College Radhadesh, 15 January, 2004 Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. By now you may have heard of Bhaktivedanta College, a Vaishnava seminary that was inaugurated in Radhadesh in September 2002. We have been offering a one-year Ministerial Program in Vaishnava Studies, which includes academics, skills, and devotional courses. The purpose of this is to provide a program of systematic education and training, with special emphasis on personal application, to develop the spiritual and cultural legacy of Srila Prabhupada. This enables devotees to offer more effective service within ISKCON and at the same time become qualified to use it in the professional world. The course has been very successful, and the results have exceeded the expectations of both teachers and students. Govardhan Hill in North Carolina From Urmila Devi Dasi Posted January 3, 2004 It wasn’t an assignment. It hadn’t been taught. Who teaches script writing to six-year-olds? But on weekends, Jahnu dasa was writing dramas, lots of dramas. He was taking stories and transforming them into plays. One day he decided to write a script detailing how Krishna lifted Govardhana Hill. His mother had written some plays, and when she saw his interest, she showed him some details of proper form. But mostly he worked on his own. About a month before the festival of Govardhana puja, he brought his script about the Govardhana pastime into his school, Padma Academy, and showed it to one of his teachers, Campakalata devi dasi. Certainly she was thrilled that such a young student had taken such initiative. And the work was good, too. Bhaktivedanta
College By Jaya Govinda Dasa Posted July 14, 2003 Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Just a note to inform you, the well-wishers and supporters of Bhaktivedanta College, that on June 28, before Their Lordships Radha-Gopinatha, the Bhaktivedanta College students received their graduation certificates for the first Ministerial Program. "An historical event indeed," commented Krsna-ksetra Prabhu from the Oxford campus. The simple ceremony was led by
Yadunandana Prabhu, our principal (or
"active principle" as someone
said). He drew the attention of the
Radhadesh community to the history of
the College, which he related with
devotional and heartfelt satisfaction.
This was the pilot year, and we nine
students were guinea pigs in this
pioneering effort to establish
systematic training and education in
ISKCON.
The Lord Appears... from a Pillar in North Carolina Posted June 27, 2003 The young children go to school—the
materialistic training ground that the
ancient demon Hiranyakasipu sponsored.
Gaining wealth and power, destroying
enemies, and searching for sensory
bodily pleasure are the criteria of
success in this place. But the demon’s
very son is Prahlad, who through the
instruction and good will of the saint
Narada, is a pure lover of Krishna. So
begins this drama with a cast from Padma
Academy’s students and teachers, with
some preschoolers participating, as
well.
RVC Europe Opens By Danavir Goswami Posted June 1, 2003
The Rupanuga Vedic College has opened a branch in Europe offering the same curriculum and degrees as the RVC in the United States. The new branch campus is located in Athens, Greece, and is now accepting up to five male students over eighteen years of age from the EU (European Union) countries. RVC offers unaccredited Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate Degrees of Divinity in Vaisnava Philosophy as well as the Bhakti-sastri, Bhakti-vaibhava, Bhakti-vedanta (in future) and Bhakti-sarvabhauma (in future) titles. April 11, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Appearance Day of Lord Ramacandra Hillsborough, North Carolina Gaura Purnima Performances "Look at that boy! He’s covered with jewels!" said one thief to another. So began a drama with some of our youngest students, ages 4-8. Each student not only remembered his or her lines but brought great charm and expression to the two plays—"The Thieves Try to Steal Nimai" and "Nimai takes the Brahmana’s Offering." Having spent over a decade organizing children’s plays, I was astounded to witness how expertly the teachers had directed this production. Teacher Campakalata told me that all the actors and actresses had their parts memorized four days after receiving their scripts. VIHE Bhakti Sastri Course at ISKCON Pune Temple By Sankirtan dasa brahmacari Posted April 7, 2003
Instead of studying in the classrooms in the Krishna-Balarama Temple in Vrindavan, the 33 devotees taking a course on Bhakti-Sastri conveniently remain in their own temple. The teachers from the Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education (VIHE) come to their temple in Pune. This kind of provision has not happened before. VIHE was established by Bhurijana dasa (author of Surrender unto Me) in 1987 and has since then, under the able leadership of Braja Bihari dasa, provided courses every year in Vrindavan. Pune temple president Radhe Shyama dasa thought it just too uneconomic to have to finance the stay of 33 devotees in Vrindavan. Also it would cause difficulties to have many devotees stay away at the cost of services and preaching activities. So why not have the teachers come here? College: By Tattvatit dasa Posted February 7, 2003
The very first three-month term at
Bhaktivedanta College, in Radhadesh
(Belgium), drew enthusiastic
appreciation from the college's
principal and nine students. You can
read samples of their appreciations here
and see their photos. For more

website: http://www.easycom Beyond My Expectations Yadunandana, 39, serves as the principal of Bhaktivedanta College. Two years ago, I began thinking of committing myself to the development of Bhaktivedanta College. The College would contribute to the development of systematic education in ISKCON and conscientiously train devotees to offer substantial service to Srila Prabhupada, his movement, and the general public. The College would also create a model that, if successful, could be reproduced. I was enlivened because many exemplary Vaisnavas were involved as trustees, teachers, and staff. ISKCON

By Rabindranatha Dasa Adhikari Posted January 2, 2003 January 2003 will mark the beginning of classes at the Varnasrama College, here in New Dvaraka (ISKCON of Los Angeles). The first class will be based on the first chapter of the Bhagavad-gita. It will include all the verses, purports, and classes given by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. As this marks only the beginning, in order to have a full scale Varnasrama College, with many classes, land, and cows, as desired by Srila Prabhupada and as outlined below, I am in need of your assistance. Following is an explanation of my plan for the Varnasrama College: Govardhana
Puja at From Urmila devi dasi Posted December 20, 2002
Special memories from childhood and youth, sweet times of gaiety and festivity, special food, and many friends. Those regular holidays and festivals form our views of life and what we value. And children love to be involved, to have a special project for the event. The best is if the youth can plan for the festival for days or weeks in advance so the story becomes a part of their lives and connected with great fun. Such an event is Padma Academy’s annual Govardhana Puja program, celebrating its twelfth year in 2002. Beyond the Masks By Kaunteya das Posted December 1, 2002
I had the fortune to be part of the group that took the course Vaisnava Counseling and Life Skills — Level Two: Self-Transformation, presented for the first time in ISKCON from November 2 though 6, 2002, in Radhadesh, Belgium. I had already taken the first-level course three times, (I am actually getting trained to present it myself) and I truly appreciate it. The tools for fruitful interaction and personal exploration are extremely valuable and relevant to any progressive human being, what to speak of preaching Vaisnavas. The second-level course had a much deeper impact on me, an impact difficult to fathom or quantify. |
