The Deities at ISKCON Kolkata (Calcutta)
From Siddhanta dasa Posted March 31, 2003 During the 25th Anniversary of the Disappearance of Srila Prabhupada, Mother Prasanti described that day as her favorite day of the year because that is when stories about His Divine Grace are told. As in the early days when a devotee would return from being with Srila Prabhupada and everyone would gather around wanting to hear the nectar from his or her association with the pure devotee, so it is now that we have the chance to hear from all those devotees in Volume 2 of Memories— Anecdotes of a Modern Day Saint. Diary of a Traveling Preacher by Indradyumna Swami Posted March 31, 2003 March 5 - 27, 2003 The war in Iraq began just days after my arrival in America for a two-month preaching tour. As a result, I found a people very receptive to Krsna consciousness. Bhagavad-gita describes four classes of men who turn to God: the curious, those seeking material success, those seeking knowledge, and those in distress. Whether encountering peace activists or advocates of war, I noted an anxious atmosphere pervading America as people grapple with fear, doubt, and apprehension about the conflict overseas and the possibility of terrorist retaliation at home. A Letter Regarding Prominent Link By Dhira Govinda dasa Posted March 31, 2003 March 18, 2003 Dear Maharajas and Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. With regard to the article "On Dhira Govinda dasa," appearing on the Dipika website on March 10, 2003, please know that I hold the greatest respect for Danavir Maharaja. He has extensively guided and instructed me in Krsna consciousness and I am forever indebted to him. Below are some excerpts from Appendix A of the book Srila Prabhupada: The Prominent Link, that further explain this relationship: Why I Posted Dhira Govinda's Letter By Umapati Swami Posted March 31, 2003 Normally, I would not post anything like Dhira Govinda's answer to Danavir Goswami, as it is simply a variation on the ritvik theme, but I felt that I should give Dhira Govinda Prabhu the right to respond. Dhira Govinda's errors are explained in detail in the Response by the Sastric Advisory Council, available for downloading, but I would like to add something. Bhaktivedanta College Saturday 3rd –Thursday 8th May 2003 Facilitator: Rasamandala das Cost: 45 Euro + accommodation* The VTE Teacher Training Course Two (TTC2) is an intensive six-day seminar for devotees wishing to organize and facilitate VTE Courses, or aspiring to teach at comparable levels of competence. It is especially recommended for devotees pursuing ISKCON careers within outreach, training, education, etc. A Response by the Sastric Advisory Council Posted March 31, 2003 For Downloading A surface reading of PL suggests that the author is just saying "let’s put Srila Prabhupada in the center," which is, of course, something everyone in ISKCON will support.... Unfortunately, that is not all that the author is saying. This fact may not be apparent, however, to those who do not read PL carefully. In our deliberations, we found that because the author consciously avoided using the standard siksa- and diksa-guru terminology, a terminology given to us by Srila Prabhupada and the previous acaryas, it was difficult to understand the full implications of his statements in PL. Sri Ganga Puja By Tusti Mohan Krsna das Posted March 19, 2003 Dear Devotees, Dandavat Pranams. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. All Glories to Mother Ganga. In Mayapur today, 16-3-03, we celebrated the auspicious occasion of Sri Ganga Puja. As is traditional, hundreds of devotees in general (with senior disciples of Prabhupada) go to the Ganges in a special procession to bathe His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada and to worship Mother Ganga Devi. Diary of a Traveling Preacher By Indradyumna Swami Posted March 19, 2003 February 7-March 4, 2003 I spent two days in Vrindavan recuperating from the close call I'd had at the hands of a bogus taxi driver in Delhi and then traveled to Durban, South Africa. North India had been experiencing its coldest winter in 50 years. By contrast, South Africa was seasonably hot, and as I descended from the plane I welcomed the warm summer air. I use my annual one-month visit to Durban to improve my health in preparation for the intensity of our Festival of India tour in Poland, now only months away. I began this year's routine by rising early each morning to chant and do puja to my Govardhan-sila and Nrsimha-sila, and praying to Giriraja that I may always remember the sweet mood of devotional service in Vrindavan and to my Nrsimha-sila to purify me for the Polish mission.

By Danavir Goswami Posted March 10, 2003 In 1989 I initiated Dhira Govinda dasa (aka David Wolf.) In 1998 he began writing papers: The Humble Guru (1998), Srila Prabhupada, the Direct Link (2001), Srila Prabhupada, the Prominent Link (2002), and a new, revised Srila Prabhupada, the Prominent Link (2003). Finding those papers to contain deviant ritvik philosophy using but slightly altered terms, I refuted them in writing through The Humble Disciple, (published on the former Chakra website) and the books Diksa Diksa as well as Poison Antidote. In personal discussions too I have clearly expressed my total disapproval of his Prominent Link theory. Moreover, the GBC body wrote that "The Prominent Link deviates from Srila Prabhupada's teachings and instructions." Dhira Govinda dasa has effectively rejected me as his spiritual master in word and deed through profusely publishing views, advice, and written material for over four years that directly opposes my wishes, instructions, and teachings. Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. I just wanted to reach some of you who may need Sudarshan Chakras for your homes or temples and let you know that in a matter of some weeks, I'll be moving permanently to India with my family and won't be able to make Chakras anymore, so if anyone is interested in ordeing a Chakra, please do so now, before I am gone. An Appeal From a Devotee Inmate By Jivananda dasa Brahmacari Posted March 10, 2003 Dear Vaishnava devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
