Coming to Terms with the Past 25 Years
By Padmapani das
Posted November 25, 2002

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

November 14, 1977. Twenty-five years. A quarter century. The day our world stopped.

At the time, I had collected almost enough money to get to India from Vancouver. Srila Prabhupada's health had been deteriorating, and I was anxious to get to Vrindavan as soon as possible. Another week, and I'd be ready to go. But then the phone call came. Prabhupada had left his body.

Words can't describe the devastation that we all felt. Hearts broke and tears flowed everywhere. The universe was in sorrow. The pure devotee of Lord Krsna had left the planet. We had lost our master, our protector, and our ever well-wisher. Suddenly the universe became cold and dark, and all hope instantly fled from our lives. How could we go on without Prabhupada? It was inconceivable.

Sponsors Needed for Children's Books
By Syamasundara das
Posted November 25, 2002

Children's Books

Vedic Arts, a publishing house of children's books based on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, has already produced many books, and there are more to be published and distributed. We need sponsors who would like to contribute for a good cause to educate children all over the world.

Srila Prabhupada said, "Books are the basis" and "Child is the father of [the] man." We need good books to lay a good foundation for children from the very beginning, and we need good men and women as exemplary leaders and administrators of the world in the future. Then the Krishna Consciousness movement will continue for 10,000 years, as Prabhupada desired. This is his vision and he has given the program.

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I'm going to ask you for your help and support. We would like to realize a really big project: donating Bhagavad-gita as It Is to every public library in Poland. Then every single citizen will have access to the Gita. It can change the face of the entire nation. And we hope it can please Srila Prabhupada also, whose desire was to distribute his books.

Srila Prabhupada, San Francisco C.1967

Dear Respected Devotees and Friends,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Devotees in every Vaisnava group or association worldwide can all agree that Srila Prabhupada's service to both his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Prabhupada, and Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is extraordinary and of the highest caliber of pure devotion. Srila Prabhupada has made Vaisnava history by introducing the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra throughout the world, establishing over one hundred temples, and publishing over eighty books of transcendental knowledge for the benefit of humankind. His achievements and glories are unlimited due to his pure unalloyed love for the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna.

And That’s a Fact
By Bhakta Wallace
Posted November 24, 2002

I was watching some Srila Prabhupada videos the other night, which is a very enlivening experience for me because I never personally met Srila Prabhupada but felt as if I had after imbibing his wonderful purports to Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam etc. these past 23 years.

I was never formally initiated because I was in household life but lived near the Los Angeles temple for 14 years (1980-1994), so it was as though I were "in" the movement although not living in the temple. I came to ISKCON and Krsna consciousness when I was 33 years old. Prior to that, I did a short stint in Muktananda’s ashram in New York City, so there were aspects of Indian religion that were not foreign to me.

Siksa or Diksa Sampradaya?
By Bhadra Govinda Dasa
Posted November 21, 2002

Dear devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Can we call our sampradaya a siksa sampradaya? My understanding is as follows.

Any sampradaya can be called simply sampradaya. There is no need to call ours exclusively a siksa sampradaya, as in certain quarters devotees are calling it.

The siksa sampradaya proponents just took the parampara list given in Bhagavad-gita as It Is and started explaining that ours is a siksa line, siksa parampara, etc.

Recently, a fully surrendered devotee of the Lord left this material world. He was the father of Vinod Vihari Das and Ananda Vardhanam prabhu of Malaga, Spain. Below is a brief summary of his auspicious departure. Although we know his departure was auspicious, still we want to request you all to pray for him, that all of his spiritual desires may be fulfilled and that he may be pleased upon us.

Computer and/or
Sanskrit Help Needed

By Garuda dasa
Posted November 20, 2002

Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. Jaya Prabhupada!

Dear devotees,

Please, I need help to develop a simple idea. If you are good on computer, or Sanskrit, (or both) and want to do some service, I could use the help.

The idea is to design on computer, song boards that will be made at a sign company. The basic song will have the regular verses in one color, and between the verse lines, in a more subtle color, and in smaller print, the English word equivalent. I have done tests with devotees, and they say that there is more feeling in their singing of our morning songs, when they can understand the meaning (at a glance) of each word as they go. Also, my idea is that it will help new devotees, as well as congregational people who visit the temples, to understand and sing with more devotion.

Welcome to Dipika.org

Hare Krsna. Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Welcome to the new web site. It seems that Madhusudani dasi and I just could not agree on how to run Chakra. Since Chakra was registered in her name, she took the site, with my agreement, and went somewhere else with it.
