Krsna and Kaliya: The Kadamba Tree

Hare Krsna. The day on which we celebrate the appearance of Balarama is also the day that Krsna chastised the Kaliya serpent. On this day, so many hundreds of years ago, Krsna went to the Yamuna to herd the cows without His elder brother, who had stayed at home to observe ceremonies connected to His birthday.

Krsna climbed this same tree and thus touched it with His lotus feet. Thus this tree still remains alive. The specific picture attached to this note was taken early one morning in the month of Sravana two weeks ago.

All glories to Baladeva on His appearance day! May He who was named Rama and Sankarshana by Gargacarya bless all the devotees!
