Gaura Purnima 2006: A Grand Festival

From Vaikunthapati das

Posted Sep 5, 2005

The Mayapur Festival Committee is planning to celebrate next year's Gaura Purnima festival in a grand way. Next year is the 500th anniversary of Lord Gauranga's starting His sankirtana movement and the 40th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's starting ISKCON. In this connection, the Festival Committee has printed two brochures. One has all the festival details and the other has the sponsorship details.

You can find the full details about the Mayapur Gaura Purnima Festival 2006 at www.mayapur.info. If you plan to go to Mayapur for next year's festival please read the following details from the brochures:

Celebrating the 520th Anniversary of the Appearance Day of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu:

Srila Prabhupada started the Mayapur Festival in 1972 as a facility for his followers to enter Sri Dham Mayapur for enlivenment, empowerment, and purification. From its humble beginnings, the Mayapur Festival has developed dramatically and now attracts thousands of devotees from around the world.

The Mayapur Festival Committee enthusiastically invites all ISKCON devotees to attend the 2006 Mayapur Festival to observe an ecstatic celebration to honor the 500th Anniversary of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's starting His sankirtana movement and to honor the 40th Anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's starting ISKCON.

During this festival, which will likely be one of the largest in recent times, devotees will relish free prasadam provided by our festival sponsors. A yatra, a temple, or an individual devotee may sponsor prasadam for an entire day during the festival.

As the Festival Committee no longer charges festival fees, all aspects of the festival's success depends upon devotees from all over the world donating generously. When a devotee donates for the festival in Sri Dham Mayapur, he serves the Vaisnava world in the most holy dham and thus receives a thousand times more devotional benefit than for a donation given elsewhere.

We completely depend on your kind donation to make this festival a grand success. Lord Gauranga and Srila Prabhupada will undoubtedly shower unlimited blessings upon you for helping this most glorious festival.
