Devotees came from the
Gaura Vrindavan farm, in the coastal
mountains between São Paulo and Rio de
Janeiro, for a late-night kirtan in the
historic town of Paraty (pronounced
para-CHEE). The center of the town has
remained mostly unchanged since colonial
times and is a popular tourist attraction.

Back Again... Sort of
I didn't expect to be away so long, but I've
got a lot of excuses, if you are interested.
On December 26, I left Hong Kong for Dallas,
15 hours of traveling plus a 4-hour stopover
in Tokyo. I spent two jet-lagged days in
Dallas and then took a ten-hour flight to São Paulo, in
Brazil.
The next morning I was whisked off to the
Gaura Vrindavan farm, between São Paulo and
Rio de Janeiro, and a few days later to the
Nova Gokula farm. Neither of these places
have telephone lines, so I was forced to
take a little rest from the Internet.
Believe it or not, I really would like to
keep Dipika up to the minute, but sometimes
it's just not posible because of the
pressures of traveling. I'll do my best, but
I've got a big country to cover in a few
weeks.
On the Road Again
Sorry for the delay
I've got a lot more stuff to post. I'll be
back soon.
In the meantime…
There are a lot of letters coming about
Gay Monogamy, and I haven't had time to
answer the ones that have problems, so I'd
like to put down a few ground rules for the
discussion.
The question is, Should we encourage
homosexuals to renounce promiscuity and take
up monogamy, not as a facility for illicit
sex but as a step toward eventual
renouncement, just as we encourage
heterosexual people to take up monogamy for
the same reason?
Everyone agrees that homosexual sex is
illicit sex, so there is no need to write
articles trying to prove that point. Nor is
there any need to write articles describing
the sexual things that homosexuals do or to
say that homosexuals are incapable of
monogamy unless you know every homosexual in
the world.
Srila Prabhupada disapproved of same-sex
marriage, but are there other ways to
encourage same-sex monogamy without going
against the letter or the spirit of his
instructions?
See you soon.
