Prisons: Help Needed for the Holidays

From Shyamapriya Devi Dasi

Posted Dec. 6, 2004

Dear Prabhus:
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

We have been overwhelmed by requests from inmates who desire books, music CDs, videos, DVDs, and japa beads. This is a great sign that Krsna Consciousness is spreading in every town and village of the prisons in the United States. Now it is the time of year in the Western countries when everyone is getting into the mood of giving, as the holidays approach, and it is also the time for the Advent of Bhagavad-Gita. So at this time of year we are looking forward to being able to send out more books and related items to the inmates.

Thanks and appreciation from dipika.org to our sponsor and host,

The prison population is growing every year, and these communities are great places to preach. Srila Prabhupada in the form of his books preaches tirelessly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At any time of the day or night an inmate can pick up a book and read it and be right there with Srila Prabhupada. Krsna Consciousness has no limits and Lord Caitanya is picking up the most fallen and changing their lives.

If you would like to help with this great project, please contact us. We need books and money for postage, which is our biggest expense, and we need used books and Back to Godhead magazines, and pictures of Krsna and related subjects to send for inmate altars. We can use any type of bona fide Krsna literature, new or used. This a great opportunity for the householders to get involved with preaching and spreading Krsna Consciousness.
