Gopal And The
Schoolboy, The following article appeared in issue number 68 of Sri Krishna Kathamrita Bindu, the free fortnightly email magazine from ISKCON Gopal Jiu Publications. Everything takes place according to the will of Krishna. If He doesn't will it, a blade of grass will not shake. So it is a question of faith. But why do we lack faith? Dhruva immediately put forth strong faith. He was not afraid of any situation. "Where is that Narayan? Where is Narayan?" The example is also there in the story about the young boy and Gopal. But we can't put forth any faith. What is the reason? From Mathura das Posted May 28, 2004 Dearest Maharajas and Other Devotees: Please accept my obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada, savior of the entire world! At current, I am under the care of 40 Salagram silas that need proper, loving homes. I ask that you please request only one and have full facilities for worship. Please be brahmana initiated, have outstanding sadhana, and forward a letter of permission from the spiritual master (does not apply for Prabhupada disciples). Prison Preaching around Vrindavan From Sarvabhauma das Posted May 28, 2004 My dear Prabhujis, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! For the last five months, we have been having weekly programs in the Mathura and Agra prisons, and monthly in the Tihar jail. Now the Tihar jail program will also be done weekly. A very sincere Brijbasi devotee named Janakinatha das has joined this program and is enthusiastically pushing it on. Actually, we were busy with Ujjain Kumbha Mela for a month, and when we returned to the Agra Prison, the jailer Mr. Gupta, was complaining. "We missed you for a month," he said. "Where have you been?" From Rasikendra dasa Posted May 27, 2004 TKG Memories, Volume One — Soon Available. Order Now! Broken Deities From Anand Karia Posted May 26, 2004 Jai Sri Nrsimhadeva! First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I am Anand Karia a devotee of Sri Nrsimhadeva living in Karachi, Pakistan. I would like to ask for some advice. During construction work in the Sri Nrsimhadeva Temple, the Deity of Sri Nrsimhadeva was broken. The face was damaged and the Deity fell down because of being hit by a heavy hammer. So we have inquired about some kind of puja, havan, etc. from different pujaris, but every pujari has his own opinion. Some say we have to arrange a puja; some say there is no need of it, that we should just put the Deity into the ocean and that's all. 2004 National Rainbow Gathering A Great Chance for Sharing Mercy! The 2004 National Rainbow Gathering: June 20 to July 4. In the heart of the hippie movement, the Hare Krishna Mantra will resound forever. The hippie movement is alive and bustling greatly at the National Rainbow Gathering. This is the grand opportunity for anyone who wants to kindly share Krishna consciousness with many seeking souls. I personally find that it I do more sharing in these two weeks than I do in the rest of the year. Up to 30,000 hippies camp out in the national forest (different place each year), set up hundreds of vegetarian kitchens in the woods, and chant Om in big circles, as in prayers for world peace. From Joshua Hawley Posted May 22, 2004 I would like to thank you, dipika.org, for posting the memorial of Jake Hawley. We had the most amazing experience at his cremation ceremony. I would like to share it with the Vaisnavas in order to increase their faith in Lord Nityananda. The ceremony was held at a small crematorium in Portland, Oregon. In attendance were Ksetrajna Prabhu, Tony, Dayal, Mathuralila devi dasi, Bonnie Silva (my mother), and I. The others performed kirtan while I prepared my brother's body with tilaka, a namchadar, tulasi beads, tulasi leaves, tulasi branches, dust from the holiest places in the universe, and water from the Ganges and 1008 holy tirthas. We chanted the holy names of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, Lord Hari, Lord Nrisimha, Lord Nityananda, and others while carrying his body to the cremation unit. From Kavicandra Swami Posted May 20, 2004 April 9 thru 12 was the 16th annual Durban Ratha Yatra. The devotees always work hard to make each one better than the last, and the results are obvious. The area was large and the tents were better than first class. Friday was the first day. On Saturday, the first Ratha Yatra parade went along the crowded beach and then through the downtown. On Monday night there was the return Ratha Yatra, which went in the opposite direction, past all the tourist hotels, and returned along the beach. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. It came to my attention after posting the article about the Grand Opening of the Auckland temple, that many devotees do not know me or what I do as a profession and may have questioned why I was offering this video for sale. Some comments were to the effect that, Why don't I just put it on the web for free so all the devotees can enjoy it? Sounds good, but not very practical. One devotee commented that it sounded as though I just turned up at the opening with my video camera, filmed the event and put it on tape/DVD. The fact is that I've been filming and editing for 30 years (20 years in ISKCON) and for the last four years have been employed teaching students computer-based video editing at a college here in New Zealand. Part 38 features Jashomatinanda das, Rukmini dasi, and Tranakarta das. With the widespread interest in the recent movie The Passion, here are a few quotes from Part 38 where Srila Prabhupada mentions Jesus: Jashomatinandan: I said, "Prabhupada, you say Jesus Christ is a pure devotee, but he never mentioned the name of Krishna and he never chanted Hare Krishna, so how can we say he is a pure devotee?" Prabhupada said, "Because he was free from material desires, therefore, he is a pure devotee."

The function, organized by president Nursultan Nazarbayev, was a two-day affair that was graced by major religious leaders from around the globe. One of the esteemed leaders of the Madhva Sampradaya, Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, was a keynote speaker at the function. At the conclusion of the conference, the respected Swamiji spent two days at Sri Vrindavan Dham in Almaty, learned of the Palace of the Soul Project, and freely gave his wonderful association to the devotees who are developing the project.

From Udayananda dasa Posted May 15, 2004 Dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. The following appeal is one of the most difficult and painful things I have had to do in my entire life. Our dear Godbrother and friend Praghosa dasa has contracted a life-threatening case of cancer. The doctors in the Chowpatty Temple have discovered a tumor 18 inches long and 10 inches wide in his abdominal area. The attached letters from Radhanatha Swami and from one of the doctors will give a further explanation of his condition. It has been determined that in order to save Praghosa's life, this tumor needs to be shrunk by several sessions of extremely costly chemotherapy. Because of the size and location of this tumor, surgery and/or radiation is not possible at this juncture. The cost of this procedure will be a minimum of $25,000.00 US. Praghosa is the father and provider of a wonderful Vaisnava family. Nrsimha Chaturdasi Mangala Arotik Photos by Vrindavan Lila Devi Dasi Posted May 13, 2004 Hare Krishna! Bhaktivedanta College Radhadesh, 15 January, 2004 Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. By now you may have heard of Bhaktivedanta College, a Vaishnava seminary that was inaugurated in Radhadesh in September 2002. We have been offering a one-year Ministerial Program in Vaishnava Studies, which includes academics, skills, and devotional courses. The purpose of this is to provide a program of systematic education and training, with special emphasis on personal application, to develop the spiritual and cultural legacy of Srila Prabhupada. This enables devotees to offer more effective service within ISKCON and at the same time become qualified to use it in the professional world. The course has been very successful, and the results have exceeded the expectations of both teachers and students. Posted May 11, 2004 GBC Executive Committee Statement Dear Devotees, Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. The following statement from the GBC Executive Committee represents ISKCON's official position on the subject at hand. At the end of this posting you will find a candid letter from Satsvarupa dasa Goswami about a falldown that occurred in his spiritual life about a year and a half ago. This took place within the context of his ongoing endeavors to serve while struggling with debilitated health. The GBC Executive Committee would first like to express its deep gratitude toward Satsvarupa das Goswami, a much loved devotee in the Hare Krsna movement, and acknowledge his career of dedicated devotional service, exemplary sadhana, and inspired literary preaching on behalf of Srila Prabhupada.
Terminal Restlessness Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupad! All glories to all of the Vaishnavas, especially the preachers who are saving the world from hell! All glories to your service! Have you ever heard of terminal restlessness? Probably not, unless you are a doctor or a nurse. But although the name is new, the condition is described in Srimad Bhagavatam. Srila Prabhupada says: "And similarly, miserable condition of death. When one is lying in coma, so many sufferings is going on, so many dreaming, the Yamaduta is coming. Sometimes the man on the deathbed cries, he's so much suffering but there is no remedy. Everyone is helpless. So that is the miserable condition of death...." — Srila Prabhupada, Gorakhpur Feb 18, 1971 I will tell you how I found out about it, and this story is a classic example of the dreadful reality faced by all the suffering souls of this material world. It also shows clearly what Srila Prabhupad has saved us from and why we should feel eternally indebted to him. It all started when I received a phone call from my parents saying that Dad was sick with cancer. Kazakhstan Newsletter Posted May 10, 2004 Creating an environment where individuals are not identified by caste, creed, religion, or nationality Agriculture at Sri Vrindavan Dham Dear Friends of Palace of the Soul, The solid ice that people were walking on a few months ago has melted to again become the beautiful lake; the apple, pear and cherry trees are full of white blossoms; and our temple dog just had puppies— all signs that spring is upon us at Sri Vrindavan Dham. The winter season in Kazakhstan generally lasts from late October through February with weather dropping down to -30 C. As soon as the snow breaks and spring arrives, the farmers take action and plant their crops so they may be sure of a plentiful harvest. It is no different for the residents of Sri Vrindavan Dham.
Chandan Yatra April 25, 2004 – Hare Krishna! Chandan Yatra is going on in Mayapur now. After one week, then only small Madhava will still be covered for the rest of Chandan Yatra. During this week, Radha-Madhava will enjoy water pastimes in Srila Prabhupada's pukur (Samadhi mandir) In the photos, Madhava and Nrisimha Deva are completely covered with chandan, and the other Deities are covered only on Their foreheads. Fishes and Swamis: From Bhaktisiddhanta Swami Posted May 8, 2004 Auspicious confirmations highlighted Sri Sri Radha-Madhava's Boat Festival the other night in Mayapur, as Lord Matysa sent two finned representatives to join the festivities. By seeing Their Lordships glistening with sparkling blue chandan [sandalwood], almost hidden behind 20 garlands of fruit and flowers, surrounded by 40 varieties of bhoga offerings, and cooled by the waving of yak-tail and peacock fans, one could get a glimpse on the physical plane of what Krsna's aprakata pastimes may be like. As the boat rounded the 40-foot water geyser in front of Srila Prabhupada's puspa samadhi, a mist of refreshing spray settled within the humid evening setting— lights, swimming saffron devotees, and a melodious Sri Vraja-dhama-mahimantra kirtan. The bhoga offering was completed, and the arotik then began. From Pandava Vijaya dasa Posted May 8, 2004 Haribol. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada I took his prints in 1981. These are the only footprints of Tamal Krishna Goswami ever made. I have made copies of his lotus feet for Vyasa puja. They are like the Srila Prabhupada feet in the temple— made of brown clay. They used "my" prints on the samadhis, as apparently they are the only ones in the material world. Narasimha Caturdasi
Devotees of New Yogapitha Dham in Ljubljana, Slovenia, organized a festival for Narasimha Caturdasi. This temple, although situated in a small country, receives some 100 to 150 visitors for a typical Sunday feast, and there is also an enthusiastic congregation. We decided to organize the festival to run on Sunday and Monday. The program started at 4 pm with bhajans led by Sandipani Muni Prabhu and an abhisheka of Virya Narasimha. He is Ugra Narasimha with Hiranyakashipu on his lap, and Prahlada is offering Him prayers. Later on we had a lecture with slides by Abhinandana Nitai Prabhu and an enthusiastic kirtan followed by a feast of different cakes, savories, etc. If you ever have the occasion, please come to see our beautiful Pancha Tattva Deities also. A Tribute to Kritakarma Prabhu From Jahnava Nitai Das Posted May 1, 2004 Dear Kritakarma Prabhu, Please accept my most fallen obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to your good self and your devotional service. Please forgive me for the many offenses I have committed against you. I had heard the news of your passing two days ago and was hoping it was just a rumor. But today I have seen the articles on the internet confirming that you have left us and returned to Krishna. I am sorry that I did not spend more time communicating with you over the last few months. You were my very close friend, but somehow our distances and different services kept us from communicating with each other frequently. But I would always talk about you here to all the devotees, telling how nice a devotee you are. |
