The ISKCON of Alachua Leadership Search Committee announces a search to fill leadership positions in our community. We are located on a 127-acre property in North Central Florida about 15 miles northwest of Gainesville, home of the University of Florida.

The Alachua community is unique in ISKCON. We are one of the largest and perhaps the most diverse community in ISKCON. Our community of approximately 700 members comprises many senior devotees, many devotees from different parts of the world, and many devotees with extraordinary abilities and unique contributions to offer.

The Alachua community is also home to many international projects of ISKCON and is frequently visited by traveling preachers.

To meet the need for leadership in our developing community, the Search Committee seeks candidates to fill three positions available as

Co-Managing Directors.

Job Description

Application Deadline: June 15, 2004

Job Title: Co-Managing Director (Three Positions Available)

The Co-Managing Directors shall be accountable to the ISKCON of Alachua County, Inc. Board of Directors, a body that is elected by the community.

Requirements/Skills

· The service requires maturity, strong sadhana and excellent communication skills.

· While being a creative and energetic leader, the candidate must be comfortable with and inclined to working with others. He/she should be able to build and empower teams and to facilitate the growth of others through training and delegation of responsibility.

· As an administrator the candidates must have excellent people skills including the ability to listen, negotiate, make decisions, organize group activities, and encourage shared participation and mutual respect.

· The candidates must have visioning and planning skills for preaching and temple/community development.

· Knowledge of how to manage human and financial resources is helpful.

· Completion of Leadership/Management Training Courses, or a willingness to take such courses, and a willingness to undertake continuing training/education is required.

· Desirable personal characteristics: determined, flexible, trustworthy, and good natured.

· Must be willing to sign the Oath of Allegiance to ISKCON.

General Overview of Areas of Responsibility

The following represents a tentative model that is adjustable based upon the candidates selected. Additionally, it is expected that specific responsibility for the different departments within the temple will be delegated to Department Heads who will report to of one of the Co-Managing Directors. Areas of responsibility not specifically mentioned herein might either be shared amongst the Co-Managing Directors or taken as an individual portfolio by one of the Co-Managing Directors.

Compensation

Compensation Negotiable.

Trial Period

Persons eligible to fill any of the three Co-Managing Director positions will be required to serve for a trial period prior to entering into a permanent service position.

Recommendation letter from your local GBC or a GBC member of your choice.

Recommendation letter from your local temple president or an ISKCON leader or senior devotee of your choice.

The names of three other senior devotees we can contact for reference.
