Lord Nityananda Was with Us From Joshua Hawley Posted May 22, 2004 I would like to thank you, dipika.org, for posting the memorial of Jake Hawley. We had the most amazing experience at his cremation ceremony. I would like to share it with the Vaisnavas in order to increase their faith in Lord Nityananda. The ceremony was held at a small crematorium in Portland, Oregon. In attendance were Ksetrajna Prabhu, Tony, Dayal, Mathuralila devi dasi, Bonnie Silva (my mother), and I. The others performed kirtan while I prepared my brother's body with tilaka, a namchadar, tulasi beads, tulasi leaves, tulasi branches, dust from the holiest places in the universe, and water from the Ganges and 1008 holy tirthas. We chanted the holy names of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, Lord Hari, Lord Nrisimha, Lord Nityananda, and others while carrying his body to the cremation unit.
Once we were in the room where the actual burning of the body was to take place, the kirtan took on a new intensity. It took about 10 minutes for the fire to start, and once it did the most amazing thing happened. But I witnessed this with my own two eyes, and all the other devotees were there. As soon as the fire hit Jake's head his entire countenance changed, his arms raised up, he half sat up, and a brilliant smile lit his face. I have no other way to explain this than that Lord Nityananda was personally there. I was completely incredulous, but Tony kept telling me that it really wasn't that amazing, considering that the Holy Names of Krishna, Rama, Nrisimha, Nityananda, and others were all being chanted. I am still amazed when I think of that experience. Thank you very much. Sincerely, [See "Please Pray for Jacob," dipika.org, April 16, 2004.] © dipika.org May 22, 2004 |
