Srila Prabhupada's Rooms
Text & photos by Vrindavan Lila devi dasi
Posted May 19, 2004

Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

I would like to share these photos of Srila Prabhupada's rooms in Mayapur. They are on the second floor of the Lotus Building. Many devotees have told stories about these rooms, and Srila Prabhupada's presence is felt very strongly here.

There are two connecting rooms: a darshan room and a bedroom.

Srila Prabhupada is sitting at His desk in the darshan room, translating Srimad Bhagavatam into English. Above him, on the top shelf, are small Pancha-tattva Deities, made by the hands of a mataji, Srila Prabhupada's disciple. When she showed them to Srila Prabhupada, He liked Them and wanted to keep Them in His room.

In the bedroom we can see the original Mayapur Chandra Deity. His body is made of unfired clay, and He was previously on Radha-Madhava's altar. When the brass Deity was put on the altar, Srila Prabhupada wanted to keep this Deity in His rooms.

Many devotees like to come here to chant or read, feeling embraced by Srila Prabhupada.

Thanks and appreciation from dipika.org to our sponsor and host,

Hare Krishna!

Your servant,
Vrindavan Lila dasi
