Mediation Training in Boston Posted April 21, 2004 April 28 – May 2, 2004 Would you like to resolve conflict at home, with the children or spouse, at work; mend broken relationships; solve problems between friends, relatives, workmates, or fellow devotees? Srila Prabhupada encouraged us to work cooperatively to show our love for him by spreading his movement together. Maya certainly tests us, often through conflict, and that gives us a chance to deal with our anarthas (unwanted qualities) that get in the way. H.G. Braja Bihari Prabhu, the ISKCON Ombudsman, and Resolve Project Coordinator, will be visiting ISKCON Boston in April to present and teach ISKCON's Mediation Course. Thursday and Friday, April 28 & 29, 6:30 – 9:30 PM The ISKCON Mediation Course is an opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills to help our fellow devotees overcome misunderstandings and disagreements. It is a lively seminar employing interactive and experiential learning. The seminar includes Graduates earn a certificate and can be added to ISKCON's roster of trained mediators. The cost of the course is $75.00 per person, $115 per person for those who will stay in the ashram during the seminar. To register or request more information, contact Premananda Dasa at premananda@juno.com or 617-266-4922. Several quotes, among many on the subject, from Srila Prabhupada: "We have so much work to do, we cannot lose our solidarity. Do not cause a crack there with any fighting spirit or competition. Whenever I hear complaints or disturbances in our centers my mind becomes too much disturbed and I cannot properly translate my books. So please spare me from such disturbance by cooperating all together Godbrothers and Godsisters." (Letter to Malati, 7/1/74) "If we fight on account of diversity, then it is simply the material platform. Please try to maintain the philosophy of unity in diversity. That will make our movement successful." (Letter to Kirtanananda, 18/10/73) This course has been taught at the MIHE (The Mayapura Institute for Higher Education), and is now being taught all over the world, to enable devotees to please Srila Prabhupada, by dealing with conflicts that obstruct our ISKCON from within. "Totally awesome. One of the best things I have seen happening to me since shaving my head for the first time. I am inspired and will try to learn this art which, if actually in place, will transform our society." —Prithu dasa, GBC © dipika.org April 21, 2004 |
