Mayapura: Giant Gathering By Vaisesika dasa Posted January 24, 2004 This year at the Mayapura festival, book distributors will come together from all over the world to learn how to perfect the art of transcendental book distribution. These gatherings will be held March 2 - 5 and will be conducted by senior book distributors from several countries. Famous veteran book distributor, Manidhara Prabhu is even coming from Europe. And book distribution minister Vijay Prabhu will be there too. Make plans now to attend. Everyone is welcome. Bring new life to your temple or your household. Everyone gets inspired by seeing book distributors walk out the door with boxes full of books only to return with them empty. It's natural for devotees to ask: "Who bought the books? What did they say? What did you say to convince them to take a book?" As the amazing sankirtana stories flow from the distributors' mouths, everyone takes notice. Srila Prabhupada himself, especially liked to hear these stories and used to ask the book distributors, "What are you telling them?" and, "What are they saying?" Once in Washington D.C., Srila Prabhupada spotted Praghosa dasa and Subuddhi Raya dasa just returning from a long day of book distribution. Srila Prabhupada told his servant, Hari Sauri to call them into his room. When they entered Prabhupada asked them how the book distribution had gone that day. He wanted to hear the details. Praghosa dasa told Prabhupada that he had sold a book to a soldier by showing him the picture on the front of the Gita of Krsna and Arjuna readying for battle. Praghosa had told the soldier, "See, this is also a military man named Arjuna and he is inquiring from his teacher, Krsna, about the meaning of life before going into battle." When Praghosa told Prabhupada that the soldier had purchased two books and had given forty dollars, Prabhupada smiled and exclaimed, "A tidy profit!" Prabhupada asked Hari Sauri to give the two book distributors some mango ice cream prasadam. The fact is, book distribution is our family business and everyone has the right to participate. It doesn't matter if you live in a temple or in a house with your family. With a little direction, some spiritual determination, and a stock of books, you too can get a taste of the nectar for which we are all anxious. So please plan to join us for this momentous event. You'll learn, you'll laugh, you'll walk away with a new lease on life. Guaranteed. Hare Krsna. Your servant, For more information, contact me at Vaisesika@Krishna.net © dipika.org January 24, 2004 |
