We would like to share these with all of you. "I had been suffering out of ignorance due to leading a sinful life. I want to be rescued from this ignorance. I'm trying very hard, and as long as I continue to read and chant every day, I'm beginning to see things clearly." —Billy Jones Amarillo, TX "You asked how I used aspirin to count mantras. I have a bottle of 108 aspirins, and each time I finish a mantra, I place one aspirin back inside the bottle, then dump them back out again after 108." —Bhakta Paul Kimmel, Pendleton, IN From Hari-sauri dasa Posted July 31, 2003 Bhubaneshwar prabhu had a successful three-hour operation on his right hip on Sunday 27 August in the morning. Dr. Ravi Kant, an orthopedic surgeon who has performed over 1,000 successful operations, inserted a metal plate in his hip to join the broken bones. Bhubaneshwar was listening to tapes of Srila Prabhupada singing throughout the operation (local anesthetic was used) and even induced the doctor to chant Hare Krishna as he was performing the operation.
Padayatra
in Slovenia At the beginning of July, devotees in Slovenia started their second Padayatra. Last year's Padayatra received full coverage in Back to Godhead magazine with a ten-page cover story in the May/June issue. The devotees this year had less work to do than last year, when they had to get everything going from scratch: a chariot, an ox, and so on. The cart carries Srila Prabhupada's murti, a householder's Deities of Nitai-Gauranataraj, and Tulasi Devi. The ox is big (1,200 kg). He is named Bhima, and the devotees bought him last year. He has been waiting for this moment all year on a devotee's farm.

America Report, By Avadhuta Siromani das Posted July 29, 2003 (From The Diary of a Padayatri) We moved on from Route 647 to Highway 522. The temperature was around 75 to 80 degrees. People were coming and going. A car stopped next to us. "What is this"? asked the woman driving the car. We told her what we were doing, and she was surprised. This was too much for her, but she was inquisitive and wanted books (many times folks just ask for them). One of her friends in the car was focused on hearing what we were doing. Truly attracted, she gave us a small donation, which was full of devotion. We moved on. Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna.... By Vrindavan Lila devi dasi Posted July 29, 2003 It is the rainy season in Mayapur. We have just finished the season of kadamba and jasmine flowers, and all the altars and Deities were decorated with extremely fragrant garlands. There was an exceptionally sweet fragrance in the air, and everywhere you went you could not forget that it was kadamba season. You saw it, you breathed it. The kadamba trees looked opulent, displaying their pride— these wonderful-looking and wonderful-smelling flowers hanging in great abundance on their branches. By Hari-sauri dasa Posted July 29, 2003 Dear Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Sriman Bhubaneshwar prabhu, the beloved long-time head cook at Krsna Balarama Mandir in Vrindavana, slipped and fell two days ago and broke his right hip and shoulder. It happened at 4.28 AM as he was coming out of the temple. He is in hospital in Mathura, and at the time of writing (8:30 AM Sunday 27 July 2002), he is being operated on to put a pin in his hip. His prognosis is good, and no complications are expected. Samadhi
Maintenance From Parvati devi dasi Posted July 29, 2003 July 1, 2003 Dear Maharajas and Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. This past November we marked 25 years in separation from Srila Prabhupada. Many of you were inspired to come forward this year to help build the Samadhi Maintenance Fund Fixed Deposit as well as the working account, and we were able to start quite a lot of projects. Without your support I could never offer Srila Prabhupada so much service here at his samadhi. By Raja Gursahani Posted July 29, 2003 Dear Devotees, I hate to part with these books, but I must sell the entire set of Srimad Bhagavatam in order to take care of some financial matters. I am selling the complete set, all 18 volumes, for $200.00. If you are interested, please call me at 314 761 3134 or email me at jahraja@earthlink.net. Padayatra
America Report, By Avadhuta Siromani das Posted July 29, 2003 (from The Diary of a Padayatri) We moved on a few miles to a small town at 11:30 am. As usual, while we were parked at the feed store, people crowded to inquire, take pictures, feed the horses. Candrabhaga dasi went to get some vegetables, and the Latin people who owned the store gave donations of fruits, vegetables, and laxmi. Simply, they saw what we were doing, and they liked to hear the Spanish of Candrabhaga dasi. With little communication, Krsna in their hearts inspired them to receive mercy. Not Eating in front of the Deities By Vrindavan Lila Devi Dasi Posted July 29, 2003 I saw a comment on the "Rathayatra in Mayapur" pictures: that we eat in front of the Deities. The curtain on the altar is closed. Because the light inside the altar was very bright the curtain appeared to be see-through, but it was not. [See "Eating in front of the Deity?" dipika.org, July 26, 2003] [Article complete on this page] Padayatra America Report, June 17, 2003 By Avadhuta Siromani dasa Posted July 27, 2003 June 17, 2003 (from The Diary of a Padayatri) Rain all day, temperature 50 degrees. We started out at 11:00 am. More narrow roads and hills. I saw some small creature that had been hit by a car. "Why you didn't wait for us?" I thought. "You missed out on the mercy." If their Lordships Sri Sri Nitai Gaurasundar and Lord Narasimha push, we will be there, pushing on Padayatra, and Kana das and Govardhan das (the horses) will be pulling Their Lordships. These were big hills, but the mood of the horses was phenomenal: steady, willing to go ahead, attentive, tolerant. Eating in front of the Deity? Amogha Virya, an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada, left this planet July 22, 2003, at a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Other devotees had not been informed of the critical nature of his disease. Staff workers in attendance at the hospital said that he was prepared for death. Although other devotees were not near, the hospital staff reports, Amogha Virya, towards the very end, fell on his hands and knees in prayer. Shortly afterward, he fell over and never regained consciousness. Through the years, Amogha Virya spent considerable time in hospitals. One devotee who knew Amogha Virya quite well and had visited him at several hospitals observed that the illness sent to him must have been a very special benediction.

From Dvarkadish das Posted July 25, 2003 Hare Krsna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! I would like to invite readers to visit a web page of HH Trivikrama Swami: www.tvswami.sotiko.pl. I think everybody knows him as one of the senior and sincere devotees of our movement. The main focus of this page is articles written by Maharaj. You are also invited to ask questions or send your comments. The sections "Daily inspiration— The Words of the Vaisnava Acaryas" and "Sri Namamrta— The Nectar of the Holy Name" will be changed frequently. Videos of TKG Festivals From Prananatha das (BSDS) Posted July 25, 2003 Dear Vaisnavas/Vaisnavis, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Earlier this year, on 15th and 16th of February, a Puspa Samadhi Festival was held for HH Tamal Krishna Goswami, Srila Gurudeva. It was attended by many senior devotees, disciples, and well wishers. Shortly after this, in Mayapura on the 4th of March, the devotees celebrated Srila Gurudeva's Disappearance day, once again attended by many senior devotees, disciples, and well wishers. A disciple of Srila Gurudeva, Ramanuja Prabhu, filmed these events using a new digital video camera. From Bhakta Rahul Posted July 25, 2003 Currently Padayatra is in Virginia. Throughout our journey so far, hundreds of people have approached us and thousands have had the darshan of Their Lordships. With the blessings of Their Lordships and the Vaishnavas, Padayatra has been able to spread the message of love of Godhead and distribute Srila Prabhupada's books and prasadam to many. Also, we have received hundreds of encouraging letters and emails from devotees all over the world. Unfortunately, Govardhan (one of the Padayatra horses) is unable to continue because of a problem with one of his legs. For the last few days, we have been hosted by a nice family in Virginia. We are staying in their farm, and in the meantime, we are looking for another horse so we can continue our journey. Your servant, [See "Restoration of Krishna Balaram Mandir," dipika.org, June 29, 2003] [Article complete on this page] Journal of a Prabhupada Man, Entry #3 By Sankarshan Das Adhikari Posted July 21, 2003 Friday, July 05, 2003, Austin, Texas– Another day to try to do something to push forward the Krishna Consciousness Movement. What can we do? We are so disqualified. All we can do is place ourselves as instruments in the hands of Guru and Gauranga so if They like They may act through us to do something wonderful. In spite of our ineptness we have been given the sacred mission— revolutionize the planet, flood it with a tidal wave of Krishna consciousness. So we must arise and fight the battle to awaken the sleeping souls from the slumber of maya. We must faithfully serve Srila Prabhupada’s order to preach Krishna consciousness and then depend on the Krishna for the results. Deadline for Gurukuli Claims Extended by Gupta das Posted July 21, 2003 July 7, 2003, Los Angeles, CA– The U.S. Bankruptcy Court entered an Order today which extended the Gurukuli claims deadline in the ISKCON Chapter 11 cases to August 15, 2003. Your servant, [Article complete on this page] From Nava Yogendra Swami Posted July 21, 2003 To: The GBC Body and other members of ISKCON Respected Devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I am writing to apologize for my involvement in the so-called ritvik theory and the poison issue. I reject the philosophical conclusions propounded by those who think Srila Prabhupada intended himself to be the diksa guru in ISKCON after his physical departure. Rather, I accept the GBC's understanding that Srila Prabhupada expected his disciples to become gurus and carry on the parampara. Removing the Paint By Kavicandra Swami Posted July 21, 2003 Wonderful news. I feel that in many ways we have also painted over the effulgent basics that Srila Prabhupada gave us. This reviving of the Krsna Balarama temple to its original beauty is a sign of great progress for the whole movement. Thank you. Kavicandra Swami [See "Restoration

dipika.org, June 29, 2003] A Letter from Jivananda dasa in prison in Oregon Posted July 21, 2003 Dear Mother Shyama Priya: I went to a memorial service the other day for two men I knew here at Oregon State Prison. Larry Pierce I met at the infirmary a few days after I came here. My heart became very irregular, so they put me in the infirmary. Larry had cancer. We had many talks about Lord Krsna. I was chanting on my hands and asked Larry if he would buy me a Catholic rosary (They have 54 beads, so two times around = one round japa). Larry got me a rosary to chant on while we waited to get japa mala beads in the prison store, which they now sell there. Diary
of a Traveling Preacher By Indradyumna Swami Posted July 16, 2003 June 21 - 27, 2003 "Now There is Hope" Our last festival of the spring tour was in Mlawa. The newspaper that had slandered us was also in Mlawa, so I was a bit nervous as we drove into the town with a busload of 60 devotees for the first Harinam. The newspaper had printed our rebuttal, of course, but people in general are more inclined to bad news than good, so I feared that the people of Mlawa might be indignant. We arrived in town as thousands of
people began a busy morning shopping in
an outdoor market near the center of the
city. Fruit and vegetable stands and
stalls selling varieties of clothing,
shoes, and other commodities packed the
area, with crowds milling through the
small lanes.
Rathayatra in Baroda By Basu Ghosh Das, ISKCON-Baroda Posted July 16, 2003 Dear Maharajas, Prabhus, Matas, kids, etc., Namonamaha. Jaya Srila Prabhupada! The 22nd annual Sri Jagannath Rathayatra Mahotsav was observed in a grand way here at Baroda on Tuesday, 1 July, 2003: the auspicious day of Aashadh Shukla Dvitiya, when Rathayatra is observed annually at Sri Purushottama Kshetra, Sri Jagannath Puri Dham. Since seeing is believing, as the old
adage goes, along with this report are
several pictures of the Rathayatra
procession.
By Mahavaraha Dasa Posted July 16, 2003 Dear devotees, Bangkok City was blessed by Their Lordships Sri Jagannath, Sri Baladev, and Sri Subhadra Devi on the 29th of June. HH Bhakti Vigna Vinasha Nrshima Maharaj, who has been preaching there for a couple of years, was one of the main organizers of this wonderful chariot festival in the streets of Bangkok. The local devotees and some Nepalis
who are working there gave a lot of
support and help to make this festival a
great success. A chariot about 1.75
meters high was built and well decorated
with colorful flowers and cloth by the
local devotees.
By Krishna V. Seva Posted July 16, 2003 Then the oldest and wisest of the fishermen spoke to him. "Son," the old fisherman said, "go to the city. There should be a temple of Krishna there, and they will know what this song means. We just sing it because it sounds good." So our friend Tom, with a simple heart, came to the temple, eager to learn about Krishna and His Name. He bought a set of Srila Prabhupada's books that day. He also took a set of beads and promised to give it a try. We told him that sometimes Krishna comes as a fish, a great fish. We said that one needs to become a very expert fisherman to catch this fish and that by chanting this song, Hare Krishna, it is possible. Tom said he would return if he had any questions. A week later, we received an angry
call from Tom. "I am in
trouble," he said. "My life is
ruined, and it is somehow connected to
this song you taught me."

Book:
Gopaljiu Publications is pleased to announce the release of the newest book of Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja, Mathura Meets Vrindavan. The ecstatic love for Krishna possessed by the residents of Vrindavan far excels that found in any other place. When Krishna suddenly departed for Mathura, He plunged the Vrajabasis into an ocean of sorrow. What was His purpose in leaving? What happened when His messenger Uddhava arrived in Vraja with a message of love? And, most of all, how is it that Krishna never leaves Vrindavan? Mathura Meets Vrindavan attempts
to recreate something of the mood of
reading an ancient palm-leaf manuscript
by illustrating the pages in the
traditional Orissan style of art known
as pata-citra. Sri Srimad Gour Govinda
Swami liked pata-citra art, and as a boy
he grew up reading from palm-leaf books.
To illustrate his lectures included in
this volume, the editors have
commissioned more than one hundred
original pata-citra paintings.

The devotees were all soaked and dripping, but we still had nice kirtan. After we arrived at Gundicha Mandir, which was built inside the Panchatattva Temple, devotees offered bhoga to Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra Devi. And after that, the devotees had a nice feast at about 9 PM. Every evening for the next ten days, there will bhajans for Lord Jagannath's pleasure and then a night feast. Hare Krishna! It will be held at the Jain Bawan Auditorium, 722 S. Main St, Milpitas, CA. Presently, our temple is located in

the growing congregation, we find it
necessary to build a new temple. We
look forward to the support and

President Needed for San Diego By Badrinarayan dasa Posted July 3, 2003 Monday, June 30th, 2003 Dear Maharajas and Prabhus: Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. We are looking for a new president
for our San Diego, California, (USA)
temple. The temple is well established,
having been open since 1970. The Sunday
feast attendance is easily two hundred
or more. Janmastami attendance is
several thousand. We have very beautiful
Deities and are about to begin
construction of a brand new temple and
cultural hall. The weather is rated as
one of the best climates in the world.
We are only a two-hour drive from the
world-class Los Angeles temple (New
Dwaraka). Sannyasis and senior devotees
visit often. We have two college lunch
programs distributing prasadam to over
two hundred students each day, three
days a week. In short, it is a great
place to live and preach.

As many of you know, each summer our Festival of India participates in the Polish Woodstock Festival, which attracts over 400,000 young people. We erect a large village with many attractions, including a tent the size of a soccer field, in which we stage programs 18 hours a day. We distribute close to 100,000 plates of prasadam during the three-day event— more than 38 tons of foodstuffs. This year we need the help of at
least 300 extra devotees from outside
the Polish yatra to perform this great

We are not far from his house, and a person stops us. "I have some cold water for the horses," he says. "Oh thank you very much." After a while he leaves, and we move on again. All the while I am thinking I will do whatever needs to be done for the pleasure of Lord Narasimhadeva and Nitai-Gaurasundar. Just a few minutes later, we see the

Internet address: Journal of a Prabhupada Man, Entry #2 By Sankarshan Das Adhikari Posted July 1, 2003 Friday, June 27, 2003—Austin, Texas The sweet nectar of preaching Krishna consciousness is the causeless mercy of Srila Prabhupada upon us. Prison Ministry Letters from Chaplains From Mother Shyama Priya Posted July 1, 2003 Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Following is a letter from a chaplain, a continuation of correspondence, previously sent out. To Mother Shyama Priya, Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ and many thanks for the material you have sent to us. We will add the literature to our library and will make them available to those inmates interested. We will send them out with volunteers to the Receiving Units. They readily receive all of those books because they cannot bring anything from county jails. We are interested in the video and
audiotapes that were mentioned in your
last letter. Additionally, we are able
to receive hardbound books and any you
can send would be much appreciated. We
have placed your address on our pen-pals
list.
