Time and Circumstance
Dear Kavicandra Swami,
Hare Krsna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I appreciate your faith in the Holy Name. As a follower of Srila Prabhupada, one should fearlessly preach the mission of Lord Caitanya in every town and village. However, one should apply it wisely, according to time and circumstance.
What is true for Russia may not be true for Israel or America. As long as we chanted fearlessly in the public streets, the public became averse to us and no one joined us (except one or two per year, who would have become devotees anyway —with or without street chanting).
But now, since we have stopped the street chanting (We do chant, however, in choice places, where people welcome us, like the biggest youth festivals in Israel. In fact, our chanting now reaches more people than ever), so many intelligent people appreciate us and join our chanting.
They now appreciate the chanting and chant in their homes and in their own gatherings. They appreciate the philosophy and the culture (our place in Harish is too small to receive all our guests at such holidays as Rama Navami, while at the time of the street chanting, we practically didn't have any friends), and book distribution is getting sweeter than ever. Phalena Pariciyate.
Your servant,
Gunavatar Das,
Israel
