Protection Seminar in Mayapur By Balabhadra dasa Posted January 14, 2003 Dear Maharajas and Prabhus, Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. The Ministry of Cow Protection requests the honor of your presence at this year's cow protection seminar in Mayapur. The dates and times of the seminar are: Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st: Morning and afternoon sessions totaling seven hours each day. Sunday, March 2nd and Monday, March 3rd: Hands-on cow/ox sessions from 6:15 A.M. to 7:45 A.M. and sessions from 9:50 A.M. to 1 PM (either hands-on activities or discussion, depending on the attendees' desires). The purpose of this seminar is to bring cow protection out of the Krsna Book into 21st century ISKCON. A general understanding of the practical, spiritual, economic, and environmental benefits of cow protection will be presented and discussed. The subject of how cow protection can become an integral part of ISKCON's infrastructure will follow. We highly recommend this seminar for anyone who is either in a leadership role or participating in a cow-protection or farm program. Some items to be covered are: Part 1: Benefits of Cow Protection: a) Pleases Krsna b) Supplies our own milk b) Cow urine and dung products c) Ox-power: alternative energy d) Attracts new devotees e) Complements and supports brahminical culture Part 2: Practical Planning for a Sustainable Farm Community: a) Land: qualities/maintenance/amount b) Cows: breeds/breeding/care c) Housing: indigenous/environmentally sound d) Economic development: food/cow products/restaurants/CSA/etc: e) Social development = Krsna in the center/cowherds/village life All attendees will receive materials in book format, containing spiritual and practical information for presenting and maintaining cow protection. Balabhadra das (ISCOWP president and ISKCON Minister for Cow Protection and Agriculture) and Suresvara das (ISCOWP board member, BTG writer of 1980s "Simple Living" articles) will be co-teaching the seminar.
