Atita Guna Devi Dasi Passes Away
By Mulakaranam dasa

Posted December 30, 2002

All glories to
Srila Prabhupada!

Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!

Her Grace Atita Guna Mataji passed away at the Sunway Medical Centre at about 11:45am on December 29, 2002. She was 72 years old.

She had been ill for the past few days due to renal failure and a stroke. Her son, HG Tattvavit dasa, was by her side chanting the Panca-tattva mantra into her ears during the final moments.

She is a very senior disciple of HH Jayapataka Swami (initiated 20 years ago). She is a leading supporter for Sri Jagannatha Mandir, Kuala Lumpur. A pensioner, she dedicated her life to collecting laksmi for Lord Jagannatha.

During Hindu festivals, despite her ever failing health, she used to tirelessly stand for hours in the hot sun and collect laksmi for the temple.

Her well-noted service was repairing devotees’ chanting beads and sewing bead bags. She used to make bead bags, and whatever she earned from the sales, she gave to the temple building project.

She was very attached to her Deities, Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda.

She will be missed by her son HG Tattvavit dasa, daughters Leela Madhavi dd and Suya dd, sons-in-law HG Ravilocana dasa and HG Ratharaj dasa, daughter-in-law Shanti Rupa dd, sister Madri dd, grand children, godbrothers, godsisters, and other devotees.

Her motherly affection and kindness will be missed by all the devotees in Kuala Lumpur.

Your humble servant,
Mulakaranam dasa
