December
Book Marathon By Janaka Mahajana Dasa Posted December 4, 2002
Dear Dipika.com reader, Hare Krsna. Devotees in ISKCON have many sacred holidays and special-occasion days throughout the year. The month of December has a special significance in the life of any ISKCON devotee. It is the month of the book distribution marathon, call it as you want: the Srila Prabhupada marathon or the Christmas marathon. The idea behind it is that each and every one of the devotees and followers of Srila Prabhupada will try to put more emphasis into book distribution. And this means you. ISKCON means book distribution, and this gives so much pleasure to Srila Prabhupada. So urge everyone to at least try and make an attempt to distribute books. There is nothing to discuss about sankirtan or nothing to argue about. You just do it or you don’t. A few days ago, I saw a posting from Visvaretah Prabhu, one of our most
dedicated soldiers of book distribution: It is so enlivening to see Srila Prabhupada's books going out to libraries and colleges. It is enlivening to know that people like Visvaretah Prabhu and Baladeva Vidyabhusana Prabhu in the Prabhupada Rasamrita Trust are performing such a great service to humanity and serving our dear Srila Prabhupada by distributing his books. It is enlivening to know about the scores from sankirtan sent around in the Sankirtan Newsletter and by Mayapur-Sasi Prabhu. It is enlivening to see Vijaya Prabhu and other sankirtana veterans going out on the streets daily. It is enlivening to learn about your experiences on sankirtan and to hear your book distribution stories. So please, try to distribute some books in this holy month of the marathon by going out to the streets, presenting books to your friends and relatives, encouraging others to go out, supporting great sankirtan devotees, or just by appreciating the real mood of the gopis — the mood of sankirtan. Brihad mrdanga transcendental book distribution ki-jaya! Srila Prabhupada ki-jaya! Your servant, © dipika.org December 4, 2002 |
