The Bhagavad-Gita Project:
A Christmas Present for Srila Prabhupada

Dear Prabhus and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I'm going to ask you for your help and support. We would like to realize a really big project: donating Bhagavad-gita as It Is to every public library in Poland. Then every single citizen will have access to the Gita. It can change the face of the entire nation. And we hope it can please Srila Prabhupada also, whose desire was to distribute his books.

To realize this project we (ISKCON Warsaw) have to order 10,000 new copies from the BBT, as there are not enough Gitas left in stock, and because of financial circumstances, we have to pay in advance for the printing. We have already started collecting donations, but we need your help.

Just think about it. If you donate some money, this donation will work for the next 40, 50, or maybe 60 years, and generation after generation can borrow Bhagavad-gita from the library, read this great message of Krishna, and then bring it back for the next person and the next. Isn't it a great idea?

Lets make it a Christmas gift for Srila Prabhupada. We are asking you to donate just five dollars (or more if you'd like), put it in a greeting card, and send it to:

Miedzynarodowe Towarzystwo Swiadomosci Kryszny (ISKCON)
New Ramana-Reti
ul. Zakret 11
05-500 Piaseczno
Poland

Or if you'd prefer to donate through a bank:

Powszechny Bank Kredytowy SA
o/Piaseczno
ul. Jana Pawla II /2
Poland
account No. 11101079-401070138354

If not you, then who? If not now, then when?

Explanation.

The idea with libraries is already working, but until now it has been donated as a pro-vegetarian literature, like Silent Ark by Juliet Gelately.

The economic situation in Poland is very bad. Young people don't have jobs or money, so they are not enthusiastic about buying books. The unemployment rate is around 20 percent, and most of the people who are working earn just enough to survive (food and bills).

But still, teenagers, students, and others like to read, and the library network is really good. There are 8,850 libraries and they have 7,500,000 readers. But they cannot buy Prabhupada’s books either because of lack of funds. So lets donate.

In the beginning I was planning to donate about 100 books to the town I come from, but I found out that there are no Bhagavad-Gitas in stock, and we have to order a new printing from the BBT. So it will be not the town I come from but the country I come from.

After consultations with Kasi Misra das, the temple president in Warsaw (capital of Poland), it was decided that his temple will sign a contract with the BBT and will be responsible for finances, stockpiling, and distributing Bhagavad Gitas to libraries. And I will try to encourage devotees to help with this project. So I was thinking that if just every second person reading this article will send even five dollars, we will be successful.

If it happens, we can do it again. There are many countries with good library networks. So lets make a book feast.

Brihad mrdanga ki Jaya! All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Haribol!
